While initially drafted second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA Draft, Durant played one season before the team was purchased and relocated to Oklahoma City. The 35-year-old currently plays for the Phoenix Suns.

During his interview with Boardroom, Durant expressed interest in joining the Seattle SuperSonics as part of a potential league expansion, saying, “I believe it’s going to come back. I believe it’s going to be a part of the league’s expansion.”

“Leading and guiding that team when it comes back to the league, I would absolutely love that,” he added.

He further stated, “When I’m done playing, that’s when it would really hit. That’s probably one of the few things I would really hold onto, like, I would play again. It would feel close to it.”

Durant spoke about the importance of having an NBA team in a city to inspire young children, saying, “I think when a city has an NBA team, it inspires more kids to want to become NBA players.”

The basketball star also discussed his excitement about potentially representing Team USA at the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, as he is currently the all-time leading scorer in men’s Olympic history, saying, “I’m just really excited about that connection with the USA, that brotherhood, man. It’s unmatched.”
